... to help builders & modifiers, not to hinder them...

"The approval system is provided, to help builders and modifiers, not to hinder them. This chapter may look at first glance like more bureaucracy, but in fact, it is quite the opposite. By providing the Technical Advisory Committee with information on what you want to do, these experts can help you by pointing out any potential areas of concern, ideas which could save you time, or processes which could produce better results. The main objective of this process is to provide you with the best possible chances of building a vehicle that will meet the requirements of the LVV certification process when, inevitably, you reach that critical point....."

      • MAKE A COMPLAINT

To make a complaint, please download and complete the LVVTA Complaint Form, and return it to us on the address provided within the form.

This form is intended for all LVVTA related complaints, such as an unsafe or incorrect certification, a certifier who has provided poor service, or has failed to provide a service for which he has been paid, incorrect technical decisions, or against an LVVTA staff member.

We can’t consider complaints that relate to a business or person over whom we have no control (i.e. a company who carries out modifications) where over-charging, poor service, or other issues are raised. These are civil matters, and so they should be dealt with through the Disputes tribunal process. For more details you can visit www.justice.govt.nz.

      • Before you start, you'll need to learn about 'Certifier Categories'.

Before you decide on a certifier, you should understand which Certifier Categories your certifier will need to hold to be able to inspect your vehicle.

All LVV Certifiers are appointed with LVV Certifier Categories, issued by The NZ Transport Agency.

These categories are appointed to those certifiers who have knowledge and expertise in that specific area.

This means that some certifiers are limited to what they can certify.

Click here to download a current LVV Certifier Category Listing.

If you need any help with this process, feel free to contact us.
